I have been working in internet/web based technologies for over 10 years. My technical experience includes (X)HTML, CSS, XML, Perl, PHP, MySQL, JavaScript, Server Administration, Web Graphics and more.
Besides creating many websites, I have also taught just about every aspect of web development in professional workshops for teachers and students.
My key areas of expertise are:
- Accessibility
- Usability
- Interactivity
- Open Source Software Solutions
- Valid code adhering to W3 standards
These days I feel that most websites are best run using one of several Open Source Content Management Systems. Not only does this allow non-technical people to update the content of the site but has advantages such as:
- Well tested and documented code
- Built in features such as RSS feeds, blogs, etc.
Lately my most of my web based work has been in the setup and customization of such systems. In addition, I still write custom database-driven applications for services such as collaborative work, registration and management forms for programs, etc.
