Hi! The picture above is from a Pd patch of mine.
I should have a picture of me here - I’ll work on that.
Background: My interests include the arts, science, technology, environment, philosophy, and activism for human rights. I enjoy creating live visuals for shows using my own software on hand held game systems - transforming them into visual instruments. My visuals are featured in the documentary “Reformat The Planet.” Oh and I’m a vegan and supporter of the Green Party.
My professional work specialties are: Accessibility, Collaborative Environments, Open Source / Free Software, Scientific Computing and Visualization and Usability. My OS of choice is GNU/Linux. This website was created using only Open Source software on Linux. I have spoken on Open Source Multimedia at Yale, Bucknell and NYU (ITP) and at Piksel 2006 (in Bergen, Norway).
Formal Education: I received a BA in Mathematics and Physics from UCSD. I was admitted to graduate school in mathematics but left because at that time cross disciplinary studies were not encouraged - now things have changed.
From some of the people that I have worked with:
“Allow me to take this opportunity, at the conclusion of the 61st Session of the United Nations General Assembly to express my sincerest gratitude for all the assistance and support you have given me during the Bahraini Presidency of the aforementioned Session. As the Webmaster of my office, you certainly were an asset to our Cabinet where you played an integral role in conveying the work of the General Assembly to the outside world via the Internet. Your personal initiative, professional dedication, and commitment to team spirit are indeed commendable. Moreover, you have been such a delight to have around and certainly will be dearly missed. I look forward to hearing your news in the many years to come.”
Haya Rashed Al Khalifa
President of the 61st Session of the General Assembly of the United Nations
“It was great to have Paris as part of the Cabinet of the President of the General Assembly. He brought a lot of experience, creativity and professionalism to the team. Paris is not only a skilled at web programming and web design - but was willing to help out on other aspects of work at the UN: server issues, graphics, video, databases, etc. Paris worked in a very demanding team but we were constantly impressed at his technical abilities and can do attitude; his willingness to jump in and solve broader problems, and the ability explain technical issues in a friendly and non technical manner. Paris was also very discreet when handling sensitive diplomatic issues. I think Paris would be a valuable member of any team.”
Robert Pollock
Special Advisor to the President of the General Assembly of the United Nations
“Paris is one of the most dedicated and creative people that I have ever worked with. He helped design, build and implement and innovative HelpDesk support system for Global SchoolNet and ThinkQuest 15 years ago - that is still in use today! I would welcome the opportunity to work with Paris on future projects.”
Yvonne Marie Andres
CEO, President & Founder, Global SchoolNet
“Paris has been a huge asset to our programs. I joined an organization that he was very familiar with, ThinkQuest NYC, and there were several times I needed to rely on his expertise and knowledge. He steered me right every time. His knowledge of Linux, PHP and MySQL has kept our operations up and running smoothly. He is also great at explaining technical issues in a way that anyone can understand. For this reason he has been a huge help teaching students and teachers various topics in Web Development and Digital Media.”
Alison Carrabba
Program Director, ThinkQuest NYC
“Paris is one of the smartest, hardworking people I know. His work is second to none. He is someone of the highest integrity.”
