It’s time for BLIP FESTIVAL - the largest chip music gathering of the year bringing together people from all over the world for 3 days of music and visuals created with game systems, vintage computers and DYI electronics.
After performing at Blip Festival 2006, 07, 08 and Blip Festival Europe, I am happy to be playing once again at Blip Festival 2009! I’ll be creating live visuals on the gp2x and gameboy advance.
Festival Info, Performers and all the info is on the official Blip Festival Site.
If you love chip music or are interested in finding out what it’s about, this is the not to miss event of the year!
As part of the first stop on the Data Beez West Coast Tour, I gave a short demo of an application that I wrote for the gp2x and one for the gameboy advance.
The gp2x application creates patterns based on various mathematical combinations of user defined waveforms. The gameboy advance application works with sprites to create patterns that can be scrolled, glitched, and roto-zoomed.
The presentation was given on Nov 7th, 2009 at the Japanese American National Museum in Los Angeles as part of the Giant Robot Biennale Exhibit.
An insight into the world of video performance. Ilan Katin, a video performer and representative of the live video software, Modul8, speaks with *Rafael*, an AV performer from Spain and VJ collaborative, Mary Ann Benedetto (outpt) and Paris Treantafeles of New York.
These artists represent a cross section of the community performing with live video. A unique and challenging arena to subscribe to, they have a foot in many doors, spanning the worlds of electronic and video art, music and club scenes.
About the Play with Fire Festival: Celebrating the breadth and depth of video possibilities through art. A plethora of live video editors, electronic and interactive artists, video and installation artists who use the moving image outside the “box”.
